'Melt Up' Needs Resources . . . . . Even From Depths of the Ocean - Two Options

More than 70% of Earth is the ocean . . . . . yet we know a lot less than 70% of what is going on . . . . . . . opportunity or bait . . . . market telling me get fitted for a wetsuit and learn snorkeling gear

At the micro/small cap level the market is sending some subtle yet not so subtle signals that it may be time to seriously consider the concept and framework of “investing in the ocean”. This very question flummoxed me for years as I tried to determine if A) should I try and invest in “the ocean”, and B) how exactly would I go about doing that as close as possible to the actual economic value (i.e. as direct of a hit as possible, no ETF, mutual fund, etc.).

Where to Invest $100,000 According to Experts

Investors face a dilemma. Headlines everywhere say tariffs and AI hype are distorting public markets.

Now, the S&P is trading at over 30x earnings—a level historically linked to crashes.

And the Fed is lowering rates, potentially adding fuel to the fire.

Bloomberg asked where experts would personally invest $100,000 for their September edition. One surprising answer? Art.

It’s what billionaires like Bezos, Gates, and the Rockefellers have used to diversify for decades.

Why?

  • Contemporary art prices have appreciated 11.2% annually on average

  • And with one of the lowest correlations to stocks of any major asset class (Masterworks data, 1995-2024).

  • Ultra-high net worth collectors (>$50M) allocated 25% of their portfolios to art on average. (UBS, 2024)

Thanks to the world’s premiere art investing platform, now anyone can access works by legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso—without needing millions. Want in? Shares in new offerings can sell quickly but…

More than five years ago through this process I bumped into a tiny company and did gain some exposure. Well - it turns out after plugging away diligently they are picking up some nice momentum here in the last 2-3 years. That stock plus another brand new one to me are the two subjects used to open discussions about investing in the ocean.

In my opinion - ethically and professionally working with the ocean to the benefit of all is well within the ‘Melt Up’ concept and framework. After all - if the ocean can provide things demanded by society now and more moving forward, then the ‘Melt Up’ will pursue paths to such a destination. The biggest thing though is this . . . . . the ocean is 70% of the planet we occupy yet we know very little about it and currently have a miniscule “economy” below sea level. My vision is a world where above sea level works synergistically with below sea level - and that to me sounds like opportunity in there somewhere. In terms of minerals and rare earths, above sea level might HAVE TO work with below sea level at some point.

OMEX Monthly

I am not currently long OMEX but my curiosity is rising.

OMEX Weekly

Thoughts and observations:

  • KRKNF may end up successful or perhaps they make bad decisions and ultimately crash . . . . . . who knows . . . . . looks like some momentum building but perhaps more importantly a very early public markets signal on “investing in the ocean” as a ‘thing’

  • Though possibly the least searched term in the world historically . . . . . let’s be honest if/when investors start seeking “rare earths ocean” investments the first and only thing to pop up will be OMEX

  • OMEX as we can see they have been around for a while - must be a pivot or two in there somewhere . . . . . . . nonetheless - NOW is the time on Rare Earths so if the market proves to me a bit more in terms of Up/Down Volume and Acc/Dis then I likely get more interested

  • OMEX Up/Down Volume nice if you’re Walmart or Disney but not jumping off the page as of yet for something burning cash yet loaded to the gills with potential . . . . . . . . will monitor Acc/Dis and Up/Down Vol and MF and see what happens

  • In my view OMEX worth monitoring especially as it is already inside the extremely powerful IBD Industry Group Mining - Metal Ores
